Located in Bursa, Turkey, Carrefour Bursa AVM’s extension is set to assist it in becoming one of the leading shopping malls in the area. Carrefour Bursa AVM will draw guests in with an attractive external façade, as well as an improved retail and leisure offering, The new extension proposes taking the existing GLA from 60,000 square metres to 82,700 square metres. The external façade reflects the silk trade for which Bursa is well-known, with lines sweeping across the exterior shell. The internal design is white and bright, complemented by skylights which will allow plenty of natural light to enter the space. The internal space will feel almost futuristic and contemporary, yet making way for a natural fusion between the exiting old space and the new. Originally consisting of two levels of retail and one level of underground car parking, the extension will allow for two levels of retail with three levels of car parking. There will also be an additional upper level for leisure and restaurants. The ground floor’s new extension brings the shopping mall closer to the highway, and also raises its level significantly. The first floor, which offers purely retail, features an open central atrium, which allows visitors to look down on the activities below. The second floor is home to the food court, which has been placed here to make use of the glass façade on the front from the inside. Visitors can sit on a balcony and have a clear view of the surrounding external area. Above this, there is a mezzanine level with restaurants which opens up the top level of the mall. This space is also allocated for entertainment, which is spread over two levels.
